Answer: emphatically NO!
The bible says tithing is a law, so that
means it is a LAW! One place the bible tells us that tithing is a law is in
(Hebrews 7:5 KJV). There are many other places in the Old Testament that tells
us that to tithe is an Old Testament law. In the New Testament, however, we
are plainly told that we now live by grace because of Jesus. ~~ (Galatians
2:16 KJV) Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by
the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might
be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by
the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. ~~ This verse alone tells
us that we are not under the law as born again Christians. If we believe Jesus
paid the price for our sins and we are made a new person by the blood of Jesus,
then we are no longer under the law. So we live by grace. Grace livers give
because they love God and want to give as He directs them.
This is one of the verses that make me
feel so strongly about this issue: (Rom 4:13-16 KJV) For the promise, that he should be the heir
of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but
through the righteousness of faith. For if they which are of the law be
heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: Because the law
worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. Therefore it is
of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to
all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is
of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
This verses is saying that if you put your
trust in following the law, then you make Christ of no effect to you. And if
you live by the law then you will be judged by the law. If that happens you
will be guilty as we have all sinned against God, broken His Holy laws! I
choose grace! I choose Jesus as my savior, I can not follow the law, I always
fail! But I can follow Jesus because he covered all my sins with His death on
the cross. Do you see, when someone tries to get you to follow the law instead
of Jesus, it is wrong! Obeying the law will not save you or give you any hope.
Only taking Jesus as your covering will save you. Doing what is good and right
is what Jesus ask us to do, to love others as He loved them. That is what we
are asked to do now. Yes we must give to receive, but we must give because we
want to and feel God has ask us to, not to live up to the Old Testament Laws!
Remember God said if you live by the law, you must not fail at any point to be
perfect. Who do you know that can do that? Only Jesus! (Rom 3:20-24 KJV) Therefore by the deeds of
the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the
knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is
manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness
of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that
believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the
glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that
is in Christ Jesus:
This is the reason I feel so strongly to
get this truth out to the church and the church leaders. If satan can get us to
follow the law instead of Jesus, and trust the keeping of the law to save us,
then he has deceived us into not putting our complete trust in Jesus. Believing
in Jesus is our only hope of salvation. Jesus fulfilled the law for us. He paid
the price we could not pay! Only Jesus is worthy to redeem us, we can never
live up to the Holy Law of God, never! We are deceiving ourselves and others if
we say by doing this point of law (tithing) or that point of law (the do
not's), we are saved. We are saved only by the blood of Jesus! We can not brag
about a thing we have or will do to please God! Only in taking Jesus as our
Lord and Savior do we please God. We must realize this truth. Yes we are to do
our best to live a good, clean, caring life after taking Christ as savior. But
it is through pure Grace that we are counted worthy through Christ. Daily we
must trust the blood of Jesus to carry us through, because we fail constantly.
We fail God daily with out even understanding what or how we did it, because we
are flesh and flesh is enmity to God! Let me give you a few more scriptures to
show you what I mean:
(Eph 2:8-9 KJV) For by grace
are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
(Rom 8:3-10 KJV) For what the
law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own
Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after
the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the
things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the
Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is
life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not
subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the
flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so
be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of
Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of
sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
When you see the truth of this and open
your eyes to it you will find it through out the Word of God as you study just
as I have. Seek the Holy Spirit to reveal these thing to you. I prayed and
prayed for truth! I wanted to know the truth so I could live to please God. I
love God so much and want so badly to please Him. In my search He revealed
these truths to me. I studied and studied, prayed and prayed and found that
Jesus is the only way to please God. Follow the Grace of Jesus, forgive as
Jesus forgives, love as Jesus loved! This pleases God! Forgiveness is so
important. It is so important and is so over looked in most peoples lives. If
you are having problems, look in your inter-person first, are you holding
grudges against anyone for anything? If you are, there is the seed of your
problems! UN-forgiveness is the root of so much pain in families and personal
lives! Do a study on forgiving or not forgiving and you will be shocked! Do not
let the devil deceive you, seek the truth and you will find it! Through Jesus
is all answers to all things and as always if you need counseling I will be

God called me to work for the Kingdom of
God. I have studied the Word of God for over 30 years. I feel Gods leading me
very strongly to bring this issue of tithing to His people. Tithing
is an Old Testament law, cheerful giving is by grace and is what Paul and other
apostles taught. Nowhere in the New Testament does any of the apostles say to
tithe, if we were to do that, wouldn't they have told us, as they told us other
