Turn from your wicked ways
Ezekiel 33:11 (KJV):
Say unto them, [As] I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death
of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye
from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
Romans 10:9-10 (KJV): That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord
Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and
with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Christ stands ready to forgive if you would be willing to
turn from the bad things you are doing and would put your full faith and trust
in Jesus Christ and what Jesus did on the cross - dying for our sins. Turning from
the bad things you are doing is the key here, so many people who are
Christians, accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior but they forget that part. Then
they wonder why they are having problems. God is no respecter of persons, there
is a reaping for the sowing, it is a law of life.
This is not a “God is going to get you” message! This is a
message of truth of life. God said do these things and this will happen, do
this and that will happen no matter who you are. Being a “Christian” does not
change the laws of life; it just gives you eternal life through the blood of
Jesus. This is the best example I can think of to try to explain this to you:
·
You tell your child please do not touch the stove burner,
it is hot and it will burn you. You have to leave the room… child touches the
burner, screams out in pain. You run back in and doctor the burn, hug the child
and tell them again not to touch the burner because it will hurt you.
1.
Now did you make your child get burnt to teach him a
lesson?
2.
How would you feel if your child said, “you burnt me to
teach me a lesson”?
3.
How would you like it if your child told other children
that you would burn them to teach them a lesson?
If you will think about this for a minute you will realize
that is exactly what we do when we say God made me sick to teach me something.
Or God caused me to get hurt to teach me a lesson. It must be God’s will that
this happened to me to teach me something. God does not make us sick or hurt us
to teach us anything! God tries to keep us from getting hurt and offers us
healing for our sicknesses by explaining how we should live in His Holy Word.
God teaches us through His word and His Holy Spirit not by making us sick or
hurting us.
So back to the turning from our wicked ways… when things
are going wrong in our lives we should stop and do a check as to what we have
done or are doing that God has told us not to do. We need to seek answers from
God to direct us to where “we” are missing it. Not take the easy way out by
saying “God is teaching me by hurting me or making me sick” … If you do that
then you are not going to seek the truth which is what have “I” done wrong.
Where am “I” missing it?
So many adult people blame their parents (or anyone else
they can think of) for what is wrong with them, that is easier than taking
responsibility for their own choices in life. Just blame someone else and feel
“warm and fuzzy” while the enemy has a hay day with their life. The truth
“will” set you free, but you must look at the “TRUTH” not your own version of
it. The truth is if you will do what God says you will walk in total victory!
This is TRUTH, however we cannot do what God says totally… this is why we need
Jesus! The best we can do is “TRY” to do what God said to do to the best of our
ability and then spend time seeking answers as we grow in grace. Learn from our
mistakes… stop blaming others when you burn your hand on the burner and realize
“you” should not have touched that burner… you were told not to! Repent and
move on!
One of the biggest problem spots for Christians is
forgiveness… God said you “MUST” forgive others if you want “ME” to forgive
you! This is a pretty heavy statement, but it is there in black and white for
all to see! Yet I hear people everyday saying, “I will never forgive them” or
“I just can’t forgive this”… Well when you get burnt don’t say God did it to
teach you a lesson!
Matthew 6:14-15(KJV): For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your
heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their
trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Mark 11:25 (KJV):
And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have
ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you
your trespasses.
We must forgive others… God told us this so that settles
it… forgive and you may be surprised how things get better in a hurry. Remember
forgiving someone a wrong does not make the wrong right… forgiveness is a gift
that we can’t earn… so when you forgive those that hurt you realize you are
giving them a gift they cannot earn… just like Jesus did for you! You want your
sins forgiven and you do not deserve to have them forgiven either… think about
it. Yet Jesus suffered the cross for your sins.
Another one that trips up the Christian is “Self-righteous”
anger at sin of others. I really had a problem with this one. God worked with
me for years healing me of this one in His grace and love. But when I
understood it my life truly changed! Our home became a much happier place for
sure. I felt that I was fighting for the Lord so I was “right” … oh how
deceived we can be. It’s okay to be angry at sin, but sin “NOT”… I missed that
part lol. I had a very bad temper and it wasn’t pretty when I “lost it” … PTL I
found the truth and it set me free!
John 8:32 (KJV): And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
If you will seek truth when you are having a problem … ask
God to reveal truth to you and “listen to Him”… you will find the problem and
it will be with you not someone else. You say well “my husband/wife” “my children”
“my parents” do this or that and they are wrong… well I am sure this is so but
you don’t answer for them, you only answer for “YOU” so don’t let what they do
wrong give you a reason to do wrong because that is not an excuse to God.
Nowhere do I read in the Word where God said if “your husband/wife” “your
children” “your parents” do this you don’t have to listen to do what “I (GOD)”
said. Our relationship to God is personal… just between God and us. It doesn’t
matter what anyone else does when we stand before God… it only matters what “I”
did.
So in ending this message remember God said, “Turn from
your wicked ways”.
