Grief is only for a little while
The last two years we have had
our share of losses… I can truly say I am a witness Jesus is enough and will
carry you through anything and everything… just trust Him! In less than two years
we have lost four close family members, our beloved horse Sundance and our
beloved Cokie (our brindle Scottie). Needless to say this has been an emotional
couple of years.
I thank all of you for being so
faithful to visit this site and never complain when we have been late getting
our teaching uploaded. I pray our lives will settle down again and our emotions
will once again level out. God has kept us and helped us, as we have had to
handle each loss.
Revelation 21:4 (NIV)
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or
mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
Because we know that our loved
ones are in God’s hands we have peace. I personally believe that our beloved
pets will be allowed to live again with us when we get there. The bible tells
us there will be animals in heaven and God tells us He will give us the desires
of our hearts … so I believe that we can have our pets there. This is just my
own belief that I am sharing with you not a doctrine. When you love your pets
as we do it is as hard to lose them as anyone.
Through these last two years I
have grown Spiritually and my prayer life has improved greatly. I have learned
that God comforts us in many ways and He gives you joy to replace the hurt. He
gives us understanding, as He also knows grief.
Matthew 26:37-44 (NIV)
37He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he
began to be sorrowful and troubled.
38Then he
said to them, "My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death.
Stay here and keep watch with me."
39Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and
prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet
not as I will, but as you will."
40Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping.
"Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?" he asked Peter.
41"Watch
and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but
the body is weak."
42He went away a second time and prayed, "My Father, if it is
not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be
done."
43When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their
eyes were heavy.
44So he
left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same
thing.
Jesus also grieved when
Lazarus died. There are many scriptures in the word that tells us God has known
grief. The bible tells us that Jesus is our High Priest and he knows our
feelings:
Hebrews 4:14-16 (KJV):
Seeing then that we have a
great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let
us hold fast [our] profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be
touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like
as [we are, yet] without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of
grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
So we know that Jesus understands
our needs in all things when we come to Him in prayer and ask Him whatever we
need to. I have found comfort at the throne of Grace many times and this last
couple of years I have truly needed this comfort many times! He is faithful. My
hope is in Jesus, my life is in His hands and my joy is made full through His
mercy and grace.
So if you are suffering from the
loss of someone you love seek God for your help, He will not fail you! Loss in
this life must come, but with the loss God will give you the strength to overcome
the hurt and find peace.
